My adorable niece meeting Santa for the first time last year. Belated Merry Christmas...
I wasn't going to return to blogging until the New Year, but I felt bad for not hollering back Merry Christmas to 19 bloggers. In true fashion, the Blog Slacker (BS) will wait until enough greetings (via Twitter, blog comments, e-mail, pigeon carriers, etc.) have accrued before the BS will fire up the laptop to utter, "Merry Christmas, right back at ya!" in one fell swoop.
But since I haven't achieved Blog Slacker Master status yet (any day now), I went two steps further on the path of "unnecessary energy consumption". I've slapped up a Christmas card (featuring the fat head of my fat cat Max who looks quite... creepy Photoshopped like that) for these lovely folks who initiated a greeting: Alternati, AnitoKid, { K }, Arlo, Charles Ravndal, Evilgenius, Goe D, Gyk, Fatima, Janette Toral, Jim, Kianah, Kaitlin, Kendra, Leah, Pusa, Sara, Zerovoltage, and special thanks to Nix for her e-card.
You get 69 worthless bonus points (non-redeemable) if you remembered that the cute, little girl sitting on Santa's lap is my pretty niece, Lau aka "Pink Princess". She was 2-years old when she met creepy Santa for the first time. As for me, television and school introduced the concept of Santa to me when I was 8-years old... so I was too old and smart to fall for that trick (much to my detriment). I didn't much care for his good/naughty list.

(Hmm, in 1 year and 4 months of blogging, I haven't asked for one single link exchange... ever. Really. People link me up so I usually return the favour.) Oh lastly, I don't much care for saying Season's Greetings, Happy Holidays, etc. (definitely not on my blog) in place of Merry Christmas. Christ... reason for the season for me. I'm Roman Catholic. But I'm always mindful of the inclusive nature of the holiday season - Good Will and Giving. As Jewish comedienne Sarah Silverman (whom I've seen in person) reminds Santa, "Give the Jew Girl Toys". (Umm, you wouldn't know it from reading my entries, but I lean mostly towards subversive risqué humor and puns.)
I'm aware that pussycat said, "GREETINGS". Christmas is very over, he says.

FOOD CONSUMED: Beef Caldereta (tender beef stewed in spicy tomato sauce, red peppers, and olives), Bringhe (Filipino version of Spanish Paella - glutinous rice, chicken, veggies, etc. cooked in coconut milk), Smoked Ham and Potato Chowder, Sweet Corn, Herbed Wild Rice, Salmon Steaks with Butter and Dill (baked in aromatic banana leaves), Lechon (roasted crackling pork in sweet & sour sauce), Lumpia (Filipino egg rolls), Leche Flan (melt-in-the-mouth rich custard with thin layer of caramelised sugar), Suman (glutinous rice coconut milk cake steamed in banana leaves, usually sprinkled with sugar and grated fresh coconut), Best Ever Macaroons, Coconut Cranberry Biscotti, Chocolate Espresso Biscotti, and Spicy Salty Sweet Almonds (so addictive). My Mom and sister made everything from scratch. Sorry, no photos. Umm, too busy eating! ALL GOOD!

Your niece is so adorable! I found out the truth about Santa when I was 5. I walked in on my parents putting gifts under the tree! I was so upset that I told my entire kindergarten class about it when I got back to school the next week. My teacher yelled at me and called my mom! :-)

I also want photos of food. You know I've been eating leftovers since our big old meal on Christmas Eve, and yet I still crave more of the lush Cuban cuisine my mother provided us with. Gluttony isn't a sin, it's a way of life!
