300 Movie, Part 3: My Life Without Me

I've fallen off the posting regimen again. I've accumulated a pile of unbaked thoughts that can't seem to get out of the oven. I should finish 'em up before I attempt anything new. I am seeing the same faces pop up on MyBlogLog daily and I am feeling a twinge of bad for not hollering back. It's not as if I am tapped out of fruity mojo... It just feels like a death of a blog... and I am suffocating from the persistent smell of burnt... raisins.

If you hit the YouTube play button, that was approximately 2 min. 20 sec. of your life you can't get back. First, we will all pretend you actually saw it to the end and then I will explain from where those maudlin scenes came. That was a trailer for My Life Without Me (2003), a movie that poses the question, "What would you do if you knew you would die soon?"The drama stars Canadian actress and film director Sarah Polley as Ann and co-stars Canadian actor Scott Speedman as Ann's couch potato husband, Don.

... and this is the part where I feebly explain that "300 Movie" in the post title has no relation to the real meaning of this entry. To briefly explain to the newbies and to those who don't care to remember (including me, myself and I), my c-r-a-z-y amigo Jude threw a gauntlet - slap "300 Movie" in the title and write about something else, but that something else must be linked to the film. Bonus points for cryptic lifelogging and six degrees of relativity. Did I mention lame? Sarah Polley was in a film called Beowulf & Grendel which starred Gerard Butler who, incidentally, was in 300. Scott Speedman, you might recall, was Ben Covington in "Felicity", a TV series on air from 1998 - 2002. Perhaps you remember him as Michael Corvin (Hybrid Vampire Lycan Romeo C-List Actor) in the film Underworld and the sequel Underworld: Evolution. Tony Curran was Marcus Corvinus (First Vampire in Urgent Need of a Toothbrush and Comb After a Century of Slumbering) in the sequel. Full circle of relativity, do you recall this previous entry where I said that I saw Tony and Gerard in 2005? Damn you Jude, bonus points.

Back to My Life Without Me, a meditative film with merit, although it can come across as a "disease of the week" schlock tear-jerker to others. A lot depressing, too. Ann, 23 years old, lives a poor life with her two small daughters and her mostly unemployed husband in a cramped trailer in her mother's backyard. Ann lacks higher education and works as a janitor. Her doctor tells her that she has uterine cancer and only two months to live. She compiles a list of 10 things to do before she dies, arranges her family life in order and has an affair with a lonely man she met in a laundromat. She keeps her illness all hush-hush by saying she's just a vampire... umm, anemic. Making a man fall in love with her AND finding a new wife for her husband are on her to-do list. And vampiric circus clowns... OK, I made that up.

Despite some slow areas in the film, it was... OK and I quite enjoyed the film's opening images. The first minute in the above trailer covers most of the opening scene where Ann is standing barefoot on grass, outside in the cold rain, reveling in her heightened poetic senses (or j/k possibly feverish pneumonia or tainted egg salad sandwich). The overly melodramatic music (which wasn't in the film) in the trailer cheeses up the scene, too bad.

Yeah, this didn't make much sense, but I was promised milk and cookies for an entry. Transparency and excellence in writing are so overrated.

Alright, link love to my No. 1 "MyBlogLog" repeat popping fresh face within the last 2 weeks (sorry, I didn't check on a daily basis): Charles Ravndal! Oh, I was meme tagged by a lot of bloggers... which reminded me that I still have to do the ones I got tagged for back in December up to now. Oops, my bad. So memes, umm coming up, maybe next week. Plus 300 Movie, Part 4 and other crap and stuff.

Now, I am off to blog hop on the Yellow Blog Road, return comments and tackle a pile of unread e-mails. :-D Whoah, that was another long ass post.

300 Movie, Part 1: Sparta-ghetti with Hearty Tomato Sauce
300 Movie, Part 2: I Wanted Gerard Butler but Got Tony Curran... Eh Who?

Au revoir,

That flick My Life Without Me reminds me of a similar but different flick. It's a comedy with Queen Latifa in it. She was also diagnosed that she will die soon so she went out, took all of her savings and spent all of her money on pampering herself and doing stuff she never thought she'd do.

    I just thought I'd share. :-D

Hmm... never seen or heard of that movie. I should check it out though. I like Sarah Polley. Funny about including "300 Movie" in your blog post title. It's amazing how search engines work.

Hahaha no blogging for two weeks huh? I think once you stop blogging it's hard to get back into it again. Sometimes you gotta force yourself. I like your entries though and the way you write! :-D

That movie sounds quite interesting. The title makes it sound a lot more interesting than it really is though. I thought it'd be one of those movies where we ponder what life would be like if we'd never been born or something like that, but that's already been done.

Ah, I know that... especially that returning comments stuff. And I had so many entries in my head for my former blog, it began to be a hassle somehow because I couldn't find time to write them down. So nothing unknown to me.

And thanx for your entry in my guestbook, glad you liked the Sims pictures. :-)

I just got home from my hometown hence the extended blog "hiatus". Anyway, I heard about the movie and I'm pretty sure it was taken from a book or something... either that or the title just sounds too familiar. :-)

Maybe you are experiencing writer's block. :-) I get that a lot of times so I'd be wandering from blog to blog when it does. The good thing about it is, I get to see many blogs in a day... :-) Just like how I see you pop in mine... :-D

Maybe your "unbaked" ideas can't get out of the oven because the pilot light isn't lit or hot enough? Think about that. :-)

Hmm, "Up to the Mountain" by Kelly Clarkson? Uplifting in a DEPRESSING way. Please CHANGE the music on your blog NOW... unless you want to be responsible for me doing HARA-KIRI on myself. Sheesh, is this your version of "Blog Seppuku"?

I think I bought that movie... or I thought of buying it... (I can't find my recent buys, so I'm not really sure if I did buy it, LOL)... I have the tendency to buy random movies (esp. ones that ran in film fests) and add them on my to-watch list.

I'm not in a blogging mood myself. *sigh*

I want a REAL RETURN of the fruityoaty we all LOVE - not this imitation crab - slash - depressing nonsensical Lilith Fair chick.

I'm scratching my balls in confusion. JUDE fella must go! I'm your New Muse! Next entry: "How Gay Man Got Her Groove Back!"

I was afraid there for a while - I was beginning to think you actually did quit blogging! That would be a loss beyond beyondness!

I think it's too comprehensive thinking about the things I want to do before I die. I rather do them instead of thinking about them. Milk and cookies though... Yum!

Ok, I am lost with your current post and must admit to wandering and skimming whole chunks. :-( I saw that Sarah Polly movie and it made me want to knife myself. In that figurative overdramatic way that knifing oneself can only do...

Yeash P. So - Maus - fabulous books, hey? How's Auschwitz? I haven't read that one.

Hmmm... I really liked that movie. I thought it was great and that it inspired something more than overdramatic reactions. I suppose, unless you've experienced something similar in life or you've had a similar life to her character, it might not touch your heart the same way.

I don't have a Game of Clue with the Felicity reference, but I do know who cut Felicity's hair. Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with a Knife! >:) A film with vampiric circus clowns - a must-see.

2 glasses of milk and a heaping plate of cookies. Masterful and kinda s-s-s-s-cary. Scarier than our friend, Mr. Creepy Doesn't Like Loud Music. Mr. Creepy is scarier than clowns. Part 3B, now.
