Here we are again with a short YouTube video of the lazy fat cat known as Max doing what he does best - begging for food. Popcorn, to be exact. The corny critter loves the sweet taste of cooked frozen or fresh corn kernels and although he doesn't eat popcorn, he does go gaga over the smell of buttered popcorn. As soon as he smells it in the air, he'll continue to sniff and beg until he's given some. Strangely, as soon as he gets a few pieces, he'll just look and sniff at them... and when he's done that for a minute or two, he'll walk away. I call it "the popcorn ritual". Weird cat.
Look at that video again. Check out that tongue licking action. Mad crazy for popcorn, I tell ya. Well, on this occasion, I decided to mess with his little ritual by repeatedly flicking the popcorn at him and taking it away. After 23 seconds of enduring this teasing game, he finally caught on or lost patience... and he ambled off. I'm so bad. I know, get a life.
Actually, that ritual of "begging, sniffing and walking away" isn't limited to just popcorn. He also does that for other foods. You would think that just for once, Max would remember that he doesn't like to eat certain foods. Just once. I mean, he's not a stupid cat. For example, he knows his name when it's called out but he will only respond when it suits his needs.
Sometimes, I'll give him what I'm eating (bad, bad) just so he'll go away even though I know he's not going to eat it. Upon getting a tidbit, he'll just sniff at it and then he'll beg some more as if what I'm eating is better than what he's just been given.
Duh, it's the same food, silly fat cat.
My sister said that maybe he just wants to make sure that the humans will always share and/or he just really likes to smell stuff. I suppose. I also believe that we are all creatures of habit and that often, we think that the other side is greener when it's really not. (Yeah, let's see how many clichés I can stuff in here...)
Oh, if you're not already familiar with Max and you'd like to know more (or you have nothing better to do), check out this previous post.
I bid you adieu,
corny fruity (fending off PETA e-mails)

Hmm… poor cat. But cute…
@Skye: Hello.
Makes sense.
@Erika: Yeah, I over-exaggerated on the word "Giant" so I changed it to "Big".
@Em: Correction, *most* cats are incapable of tasting sweet… but there is a small percent that *can* according to scientific studies. Max LOVES vanilla ice cream, caramel custard and sweet corn. (No, we don't actually feed him those as part of his daily diet.)
@Sash: What did you *get*:?: Tell me.
I'll start tagging and categorizing when I've figured out what I'm writing about… 3 categories: Hodge-podge, Drivel…& Hodge-podge OF Drivel.
Aw, poor kitty. That's mean.
Cats are strange… I think that they act the way they do because they believe that they are the superior species. They beg because even if they don't like it, you must give them something… and they understand everything you say but they choose to ignore it. Lol. Not stupid, just snobby.
The first thing I thought of when I read the title to this entry was a piece of popcorn the size of a golf ball…lol.
What a silly cat.
Oh, you're a meanie, flicking popcorn on his head!
Wait, cats don't have a sweet tooth or rather, a sweet tongue. FYI, their taste buds lack 'sweet receptors'. You have a very strange cat.
I fail to see any subtext in this or perhaps I don't want to know.
Actually, I think I "get it".
You need to change your security spam words - so boring. Also, I agree with Jude. You need to start tagging and categorizing your posts. And more IMAGERY stuff, yes.
