OK, I heard your requests for “more” frequent but “shorter” posts. Less is more. I also heard your protests against large embedded QuickTime .mov videos. Fine. Flash-based YouTube, happy now? Gah, you’ve forced me to officially join the exhibitionist MeBored generation. Anyway, here is a short video of someone trying to get my über fat and lazy cat Max to move the rest of his fat body and not just his small head.
An exercise in futility.
If YouTube is offline, download this alternative QuickTime .mov video (1 min. 33 sec., 3.59 MB).
If you’re not already familiar with Max’s consistent application of physics (The Law of Inertia) in his daily idleness and the amusement I derive from the fact that I am not the laziest creature on Earth, feel free to peruse 3 previous posts on the chubby tubby fella:
Take Some Time to Eat the Flowers (Sep. 6, 2006)
Max, Move Fat Cat! (Oct. 21, 2006)
I See You, Feed Me Now (Oct. 28, 2006)
… and while the following post is NOT about Max, it does contain a short YouTube video on Max and Lucky, our neighbour’s cat:
Every Day, My Mind Is Time-lapsing into Madness (Oct. 14, 2006)
This post is not the last on the topic of Max’s finesse with the art of “I Am Permanently Attached To This Rug Unless I Have to Eat or Visit the Litter Box”. Yes, I do need to find something else to write about (hahaha), but umm, well… as I’ve said before, I’d like to record his few remaining years with me and my family. Max has been one of the constants in my either challenging or idle life for many years now throughout all the highs, lows, trials, disappointments, accomplishments and sheer joy. His small furry face is usually the first one I see (much, much too) early in the morning. He’s not simply just a cat or pet to me, but a priceless foot warmer.
Oh, that battery-operated, singing purple gorilla with the guitar that lights up? You might remember it from a previous post just 2 days ago - “Monkey See, Monkey Do Haiku”. It is rocking to an old tune released in 1980 sung by a band from the early 80’s - The Romantics’ “What I Like About You”. The gorilla didn’t have much success in sustaining Max’s interest for more than 2 minutes. The laziest cat, I tell ya.
(fruityspeare says, “I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips.” Ah, here come the e-mails from The Fruity Merry Band regulars deciphering the subtext from the trivial. IT IS a post about Max, that IS ALL. Uh-huh.)
Thanks for reading, but this is MY blog. The music has stopped.
I bid you… adieu,
fruity American Idol Canadian IDLE
P.S. Today is November 11, Remembrance Day. If you didn’t observe a moment of silence to show your respect for the sacrifices of war veterans and survivors, do so now. Done? Good. Me, I’m celebrating my freedom to write drivel in my blog on account of my grandparents and parents surviving those air raids. Vive la drivel.

I love that video! That’s just how I would be if I were a cat… lazy but cute… and fat. I think cats can get away with plumpness so much easier than human females can.
100th comment! Yay!
I think I SHOULD GET something more than a bunch of “yellow psychotic circles”.
BTW, when are you going to actually START categorizing and tagging all your posts? You’re at 31 posts now. Also, your IMAGERY page lacks image schtuff.
@Julie: He outbeats Garfield in the lazy category, hehehe!
@Evilgenius: Because there’s no single plugin that is 100% effective to thwart evil losers and their evil bots. Grrr. Thanks for helping! Comments feature is fixed, umm, I think. Hooray!!! Peter Keung, the author of the anti-spam word plugin has fixed bugs that were recently preventing comments from getting through.
There are bots that “read” the anti-spam word images. I’ve installed Bad Behaviour plugin and it’s working great. Most of the time, BB prevents a comment from being saved to the database (BB analyzes nature of request) whereas Akismet allows the comment to be saved to the database and then Akismet filters or deletes it. Together, the 2 plugins are very effective! I’ve also renamed my WordPress comments and trackback files so that some bots don’t find them - lessening the load on the server.
@Sara: Hey, thanks for the comment. Fat cats rule. Hehehe.
@Deana: Yes, he is! Thanks.
@Honey: Thanks!
@Jude: Hey dude, congrats on submitting the 100th valid comment (excluding the 30+ per day I get from spambots, arrrgh)! No prizes for winning, but smiles are free!
@Hodges:
So deep, indeed.
Oh gosh your kitty is so funny! He looks like Garfield hehe.
Uhm… how could you get comments from spambots when you have the anti-spam word thingy?
Max is funny…
That is the cutest cat! My cat is big too but you can’t tell him that he is fat. He will hiss at you or try to bite you LOL.
Haha, cute cat.
Hilarious video!
Cute. Is it me or does it seem that Max wants to eat the gorilla? I mean, the sniffing and the tongue flicking licking thing. Oh yeah, I think I “got it too”, unfortunately. The Fruity Merry Band?
[fruity's edit: 100th valid comment, excluding those by spambots]
It’s just so DEEP. I cried.
And then I cried some more.
Totally got it.
