Every Day, My Mind Is Time-lapsing into Madness

Apparently, yesterday was Friday the 13th. Whoopidoo, my life at this very moment is scarier, but let’s fastforward past my temporary paralysis and moping du jour. We here at fruityoaty prefer to mask that gnawing feeling in the pit of one’s stomache… that simmering, heavy cauldron of dissatisfaction and paranoid suspicion that one’s life is really just a barren wasteland of self-loathing and regret littered with moments of misspent time, missed connections and many wasted opportunities. Umm, yes, I’m kidding. Really, I am (or so, I’d like to believe today - just today). Happy thoughts, happy shiny thoughts.

Anyway, my friend recently discovered the superficial joys of wasting time on YouTube (file that under grossly “misspent time”). She sent me an interesting video by this dude named Noah Kalina who took a photo of himself every day for the last 6 years (January 11th 2000 - July 31st, 2006), although he’s apparently missing several days due to a hard drive crash among other reasons. He seamlessly stitched 2356 photos together with a lovely, melancholy piano track written and performed by Carly Comando. Noah has said that it is a work-in-progress and that he will continue to take daily photos until the end. There’s a morbid, macabre element in watching it because you are seeing a man age right in front of your eyes and you begin to realize that the last photo taken will be on his last day of life.

I like the cool, pseudo time-lapse effect. According to Wikipedia, time-lapse photography is “… a cinematography technique whereby each film frame is captured at a rate much slower than it will be played back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing.” Read about the who, what, why and how on Noah’s website.

Maybe you’ve already seen it as it certainly has been making the meme rounds on the Net. If not, we here in fruityoaty land will help you in your pursuit of misspent time. Here is the video (5:44 min.) for your viewing pleasure:

… and lastly, this post wouldn’t be fruity oaty if Massa P (aka “fruity”) didn’t put a fruity oaty spin to it. Here’s my spoof of the video featuring Mr. Max and Mr. Lucky (45 sec., 980 KB QuickTime .mov embedded video):

(… oh, the depth, the power, the tears, har!)

Adieu, Food. Now! Food. Now! Food. Now!

bruised fruity

P.S. Dear Mr. Kalina, there is a big difference between “everyday” and “every day”. Please read this website. The correct usage in your case is “every day” and NOT “everyday”.

I quote from the above source:

Every day (two words) literally has the same meaning as “each day”.

Everyday (one word) is an adjective meaning encountered or used typically or routinely; a synonym is ordinary.”

I got ‘massap’ as my security word. Thoughts:

    1. Hypnotized by the guy’s moving hair.
    2. Mr. Lucky looks scary.
    3. Your CURRENTLY sidebar is in need of updating as it appears that you’re stuck in time.
    4. Gee, I have a gnawing feeling that this post is really a simmering cauldron of a cry for help. Your posts often contain another story, under the surface.

@Sash aka Farm Boy: My Google “horror”scope today: “Deep feelings need to be processed this morning if you are to make the most of the afternoon when the energy lightens up and your discomfort passes. The transition is not as simple as it sounds, for you must willingly engage in the emotional transformation or you will lose the opportunity. You cannot move past a difficult situation by avoiding it, so move toward your shadows before you lose the chance.”

What a load of crock. Sigh. ;-)
